Tanzania Safari Day 1 – Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional, English-speaking safari driver-guide. After a brief introduction and assistance with luggage, you will be transferred to your lodge for check-in. The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing you to unwind after your long journey and enjoy the lodge’s serene atmosphere and facilities.

Overnight Stay: African View Lodge

Nestled at the foot of Mount Meru in the charming village of Ngongongare, African View Lodge is a tranquil retreat located just a 30-minute drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport. The lodge features 23 en-suite bungalows with stunning views of Mount Meru. Its reception, dining area, and bungalows are thoughtfully designed using local materials, including traditional Meru-style ceilings adorned with banana leaves, offering both comfort and a touch of authentic East African character.

Tanzania Safari Day 2 – Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park to start your Tanzania safari, renowned for its vast elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park, situated within Tanzania’s spectacular Manyara Region, is an awe-inspiring national park forming of granite ridges, river valleys, mixed vegetative landscapes, and free-roaming wildlife. During the annual dry season, the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest, and eland gather and not surprisingly the predators follow. With lion being among the most commonly spotted animal, it is a rare day that a visitor does not spot this majestic animal prowling or grazing. Tarangire is also the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as oryx, and gerenuk are seen regularly. This expansive area is also known for its spectacular baobab trees, its breathtaking views of the Masaai Steppe and the wondrous mountains to the south.

Lake Manyara National Park

Famously known as one of the few places in Africa where lions are often seen lounging in the branches of acacia trees—a rare and iconic wildlife sighting.

The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 400 recorded bird species. During the green season (November to April), the lakeshore becomes a vibrant tapestry of flamingos, pelicans, storks, herons, hornbills, and birds of prey like eagles and hawks.

Beyond its rich wildlife, Lake Manyara captivates with its striking landscapes—ranging from lush groundwater forests and expansive floodplains to shimmering lakeside wetlands, acacia woodlands, and the dramatic cliffs of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Central Serengeti

Situated in the heart of Tanzania, the Central Serengeti encompasses the world-famous Seronera Valley which is known for its prime wildlife-viewing opportunities. This picture-perfect landscape is characterised by endless stretches of savannah-covered open plains interspersed by rocky outcrops of granite and scattered with acacia woodlands and covered in a network of rivers and streams. The Central Serengeti forms part of the great wildebeest and zebra migration and provides an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife such as giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, serval and much more. Popular activities include game viewing, cultural tours, horse riding safaris, and hot air ballooning over the spectacularly scenic terrain.

Overnight: Thorn Tree Camp

Thorn Tree Camp is a classic tented safari camp located in Seronera area of Serengeti National Park, about fifteen minutes from the Seronera airstrip and visitor’s centre. The camp is open year-round, offering traditional Tanzanian hospitality and great food. The camp is permanently based in central Serengeti, in the Seronera Valley, home to year-round wildlife due to the constant presence of water. This area is famous for spotting lion, leopard and large herds of elephant. Views from the campsite look across onto Banagi Hill and classic vistas of the Serengeti Plains.

Tanzania Safari Day 6 – Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro and descend 600 meters into the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, often celebrated as the 8th Wonder of the World. This vast, unbroken volcanic caldera is home to one of the densest concentrations of wildlife on earth and offers a unique microcosm of East Africa’s ecosystems.

Spend the day on a thrilling game drive with a packed lunch, encountering an incredible diversity of animals including lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, and—if lucky—the rare black rhino. The crater floor, with its grasslands, acacia forests, and soda lake, provides dramatic backdrops for photography

and wildlife observation. In the late afternoon, ascend the crater rim and continue to your lodge in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving in time for dinner and overnight.
